Questions

What is the compound interest formula?

A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n × t), where P is the starting amount, r the yearly rate as a decimal, n the number of times interest compounds per year and t the number of years. $10,000 at 7% compounded monthly for 10 years grows to $20,096.61.

What is the difference between the interest rate and the effective annual yield?

The yield (APY) includes the effect of compounding. A 7% rate compounded monthly earns 7.23% a year because each month’s interest earns interest too.

Does this account for inflation or taxes?

No. It shows the nominal growth. Subtract expected inflation from your rate to estimate growth in today’s money.

Is anything I enter stored?

No. Calculations happen in your browser and nothing you type is sent or saved.

Is it free?

Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
