Questions

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit as a share of the selling price. Markup is profit as a share of the cost. Selling something for 100 that cost 60 is a 40% margin but a 66.7% markup.

How do I find the selling price for a target margin?

Divide the cost by (1 − margin). For a 40% margin on a cost of 60: 60 ÷ 0.6 = 100.

Is anything I enter stored?

No. Calculations happen in your browser and nothing you type is sent or saved.

Is it free?

Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
