Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The parts are made in your browser, on your device. The PDF is not sent to a server.
How are the cut points found?
The tool takes as many pages as fit under the limit, in order, then starts the next part where the last one ended. It makes trial files to know their real size, because the size of a PDF is not the sum of its pages: fonts and pictures that pages share are stored once.
Why do the parts add up to more than the original?
A font or picture used on many pages is stored once in the original. Each part needs its own copy of what its pages use, so together the parts are larger.
What if one page is larger than the limit?
A page is never cut. It goes into a file of its own, and you are told that the file is over the limit.
What is kept in the parts?
The pages, as they were: text, pictures, comments and links to web addresses. Bookmarks, links that jump to another page of the document and fillable form fields are not carried over.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is it free?
Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
