How to use it
- Add the files, or a whole folder.
- Set the rules: what to find and replace, the case, a prefix, or a pattern such as {date}_{n:3}_{name}.

Questions
Does it rename my files on my computer?
No. A web page is not allowed to rename files on your disk. You get renamed copies (download them all as one ZIP, or save them to a folder in Chrome or Edge) and a list of old and new names. The originals are untouched.
What can the pattern do?
The pattern is the new name. {name} is the old name after the other rules, {n} is a counter ({n:3} gives 001, 002 …), {date} and {time} come from the file’s last-modified time, {year}, {month} and {day} are its parts, {parent} is the name of the folder the file came from, and {ext} is the extension. For example {date}_{n:3} gives 2024-05-17_001. Write {{ for a literal brace.
How do I use find and replace with patterns?
Tick “regular expression”. Then (\d+) finds a run of digits and $1 puts it back in the replacement. For example, find “IMG_(\d+)” and replace with “Holiday $1”. Without the tick, the text is matched exactly.
What happens when two files get the same name?
A number is added, like “photo (2).jpg”, and the tool tells you how many files that happened to.
Is the extension changed?
Only if you ask. Rules work on the name without the extension, and “.tar.gz” counts as one extension. You can make it lowercase, capitals, remove it, or replace it. Changing the extension does not convert the file.
In what order are the numbers given?
In the order the files are listed, or sorted by name (numbers by value), by date, or by size. The list of results follows that order.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is it free?
Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
