Questions

How are numbers handled?

Text that is a plain number and would read back exactly the same (12, -3.5, 0.25) becomes a JSON number. Anything that would change, such as 007, 1.50 or 12345678901234567890, stays text so no data is lost. Choose Keep every value as text to turn this off.

What if my file uses semicolons or tabs?

Leave the separator on Detect. It looks at the first lines and picks comma, semicolon, tab or pipe.

What happens to duplicate or empty column names?

Empty names become column_1, column_2 and so on, and repeated names get _2, _3. The message above the result lists the changes.

Can it handle quotes and line breaks inside a cell?

Yes. Cells in double quotes may contain commas, line breaks and doubled quotes ("").

Are blank lines kept?

No. A line with nothing on it is skipped, so a blank line at the end of the file does not become an empty record. A line of separators (,,) is kept, because it is a row of empty cells.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser. Your text is not sent to a server.
