Questions

How do I calculate GST?

To add GST, multiply the price by the rate and add it: ₹1,000 at 18% gives ₹180 GST and ₹1,180 in total. To remove GST from a total, divide by 1 plus the rate: ₹1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000.

What are the current GST rates in India?

Since 22 September 2025 most goods and services are taxed at 5% or 18%, with 40% for luxury and sin goods, 3% for gold and silver, and 0% for essentials. The old 12% and 28% slabs are kept in the list for older invoices. Check the rate for your exact item on the official GST portal.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?

For a sale within one state, the GST is split equally between the central government (CGST) and the state (SGST). For a sale between states, the full GST is charged as IGST.
