Questions
What is a data URL?
A way to put a picture inside a web address, so a page can show it without loading a separate file. It looks like data:image/png;base64, followed by the picture written as text.
Is Base64 a good idea for photos?
Usually not. The text is about a third bigger than the file, and the browser cannot keep it in its cache between pages. It suits small icons and logos, up to a few kilobytes.
Which pictures can I use?
Any picture file, including types your browser cannot show, because the file is only read, not opened. The largest is 20 MB.
Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read in your browser, on your device. It is not sent to a server.
