Questions

What JSON shapes work?

A list of objects (the usual API response), a list of lists, a list of plain values, one object (it becomes one row), and JSON Lines with one object per line. An object that holds a single list, such as {"data": [...]}, uses that list. An object whose values are all lists, such as {"Sales": [...], "Costs": [...]}, becomes a workbook with one sheet per list.

How are values stored?

Numbers become Excel numbers (up to 15 digits; longer ones stay text so no digit is lost), true/false become booleans, null becomes an empty cell, and text stays text. A value that starts with = is stored as text, never as a formula.

What happens to dates?

Text written like 2024-03-31 or 2024-03-31T14:30:00 becomes an Excel date. Turn the option off to keep it as text. Excel cannot store a date before 1900-03-01, so an earlier date stays text, and the page says how many.

How are nested objects written?

With Turn nested objects into columns on, {"address": {"city": "London"}} becomes a column named address.city. With it off, the nested object is written as JSON text in one cell.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?
