How do I calculate a percentage of a number?
Divide the percentage by 100 and multiply by the number. 20% of 150 is 20 ÷ 100 × 150 = 30.
How do I calculate percentage change?
Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value, and multiply by 100. From 80 to 100 is (100 − 80) ÷ 80 × 100 = 25% increase.
What is the difference between percentage change and percentage difference?
Percentage change compares a new value to an old one, so the order matters. Percentage difference compares two values with neither being the starting point, so it divides by their average and gives the same answer either way.
