Questions
Why does the picture look stretched?
Letters are about twice as tall as wide, so the tool uses half as many lines as columns to keep the shape. View the text in a monospace font (like Courier or Consolas) and with no extra space between lines.
What are the characters for?
They go from heavy to light: the darkest parts of the picture get the heaviest character and the lightest parts get a space. See-through parts count as white paper.
Can I do many pictures at once?
Yes. Drop as many as you like. Each gets the same settings, and you can download them all as one ZIP file.
Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?
No. The effect is worked out on your device, in your browser. The pictures are not sent to a server.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?

Is it free?
Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
