How to use it
- Drop one PDF that has bookmarks onto the page.

- Press Split at bookmarks and download the files, or all of them in one ZIP.
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The files are made in your browser, on your device. The PDF is not sent to a server.
What are the files called?
The name of your file, a number that keeps them in page order, and the title of the bookmark: report-03-Methods.pdf. Characters that a file name cannot hold are replaced, and long titles are cut.
What about the pages before the first bookmark?
They go into a file of their own, called "Before the first bookmark", so no page is lost.
Two bookmarks start on the same page. What happens?
A file cannot be empty, so the first of them names the file and the others share it. You are told which. The same happens when you cut at levels 1 and 2 and a chapter starts on the same page as its part.
Are the bookmarks kept in the files?
The bookmarks below the level you cut at are kept in the file they belong to, pointing to the right pages. The bookmark the file is named after is not repeated inside it.
What is lost?
Links that jump to another page of the document and fillable form fields are not carried over. Text, pictures, comments and links to web addresses are.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device and are never sent to a server.
Is it free?
Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
