How to use it

  1. Add the file you want to cut up.
  2. Choose the size of each part, or how many parts you want.
  3. Press the button and download the parts. To put them back, use File joiner, or cat (macOS, Linux) or copy /b (Windows).

Questions

How do I join the parts again?

Use File joiner on this site, or a command: on macOS and Linux, cat movie.mkv.* > movie.mkv; on Windows, copy /b movie.mkv.001+movie.mkv.002+movie.mkv.003 movie.mkv. The parts are plain slices of the file, so 7-Zip opens the first one of a .001 series as well.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The file is cut on your device. The parts are slices of it and take almost no extra memory.

How big is a “MB” here?

A binary megabyte: 1 MB is 1,048,576 bytes, as in the split program. Mail services often count in thousands, so leave a little room under their limit.

How many parts can I make?

Up to 2,000. For a very large file, choose a larger part size.

Can I split a ZIP, a video or an ISO?

Yes, any file. The parts are not usable on their own until they are joined.

Is it the same as a split ZIP (.z01, .z02)?

No. Those are made by the ZIP program and cannot be joined by simple copying. These parts are raw slices.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device and are never sent to a server.

Is it free?

Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
