Questions

Is the header row kept in every file?

Yes, when the first-row option is on. Each file starts with the header, and the rows are counted without it.

How does splitting by a column work?

Every different value in that column gets its own file, named after the value, for example sales-Paris.csv. Rows with an empty value go in a file called (empty). Values that differ only in capital letters make separate files.

Is there a limit on the number of files?

Yes, 500 at most, so the page does not freeze. If the split would make more, the page says so and you can choose bigger pieces.

Can I turn a CSV into Excel files, or the other way round?

Yes. Choose the type in Save as. CSV values are read the way CSV to Excel reads them: numbers, dates and true/false become real values, and codes such as 007 stay text.

Can it split a CSV with millions of rows?

It works on files that fit in your browser memory, which is usually a few hundred megabytes. For very large files, a command-line tool is safer.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The work happens in your browser, on your device. Your files are not sent to a server.

Is it free?

Yes, you can use it for free. A subscription removes limits and unlocks premium tools.
